2009 is witness to three (3) Friday the Thirteenths. The next one is this very week, November 13. Rare Knowledge will be administering luck kits as a public service on the CCA San Francisco campus. Included are these helpful bits of advice:
Though we do not suggest you develop a case of paraskevidekatriaphobia (fear of Friday the Thirteenth), exercising a little caution is always healthy. Friday, traditionally considered the unluckiest day of the week, combined with 13, makes today particularly inauspicious. Please avoid the following activities:
stepping over brooms
saying “Good luck!” to anyone
pointing at people, objects or (celestial) stars
going only partway up or down stairs
stumbling over thresholds
In order to counterbalance the powerful forces of unluckiness at work today, we have provided you with a single bent penny. When carried in your left pocket, the bent penny welcomes good luck and wards off bad luck.
Be careful and g–d l–k!
